A Late Thankful Post.

I have not been as good at updating this as I would like to eventually become. Sometimes I get bogged down in the day-to-day life and the various writing projects I have going on that I feel creatively drained. I don’t want to sit down and write a blog post after all of that, but I figured on a day where I got nothing creative accomplished, I could possibly get something up on my blog – which brings me to my topic. Today, I’ll tell you what I’m thankful for, in the spirit of the holidays.

1. I’m thankful I do not work in retail. Black Friday doesn’t seem to matter to restaurants. It was slow on Friday at work, and for that I’m terribly thankful. I don’t know if I could ever work in retail.
2. I’m thankful for my dogs, Sarah, my mother, K-chan, and Tempy who have helped me keep my sanity these last few months. I don’t know what I would do without their help. Just listening to my ramblings keeps the monsters in my mind at bay.
3. I’m thankful that I live in a free country. I’m thankful that I have the rights to study whatever I want, the rights to think freely and express my opinions. I’m thankful I was born here instead of somewhere else – even if sometimes I think it might have been more amazing if I was born in the UK.
4. Last, but certainly not least, I’m thankful for the creativity that seems to come naturally to me. Every craft I have applied myself to in the last two years or so have all come easily. I still get frustrated with things that don’t turn out right, and I don’t have the patience that I wish I could magically gain, but I seem to have luck with my crafting.

Those are the things I’m thankful for this holiday season, and I’m glad I can share them with you.

Back to crafting my surprise holiday décor. Many of my close friends (and facebook stalkers >>) already know what my theme is this year, but I will be posting a quick look at my ornaments. I may even make a video-tutorial for them, if I can find the time!

Happy crafting. :)

Hello there, World! I’m new to the blog ‘verse, but I’m definitely not new to the internet. Actually it’s where I get most of my inspiration for my crafts. I have been an avid crocheter, papercrafter, and decorator for a few years now, and I’m excited to share my inspired works with Everyone who finds my blog. I’ve never had a successful blog before, or even tried to have a blog. The most I have is a Tumblr.

I have been reading a lot of crafts blogs lately. Some of my favorites will be linked at some point. I figured I’d make my own blog so that I could share with you my little corner of the crafting world. I just hope that you will see it as I do. Before we get to the real crafts, I’ll tell you a little bit about myself, and where I’m coming from in the crafting world.

I was born in Maine, but I have lived in 4 states so far. California, Virginia, and (now) Texas are the other three. I have lived in Texas for two years, and I’ll be glad to get back to sunny California in about another year. I live in a small apartment with one other person and two dogs. They are the center of my world. Most of my crafts are either made for them, or with their help (The dogs generally just sit and stare at me, wondering what the big white machine is that’s making all the noise). I have yet to go to college, but I plan on being either an interior designer, or a therapist. I haven’t really made any firm decisions on that, yet.

I am an avid reader, writer and crafter. Reading has always been my escape from the world when things didn’t look so bright. I enjoy losing myself in the pages of a book. I like Sci-fi/Fantasy as much as I like classics. The only genre I have never even really given a second thought are Romance novels. They definitely don’t appeal to me. Haha. As for writing, I mostly stick to Sci-Fi. I participated (and completed) NaNoWriMo in 2011, with a novel calledFrom Archer To Ziggurat. I plan on starting up a Skype book club to share and read new sci-fi/fantasy novels with like-minded people. Haven’t decided on a name for that one yet… It’ll come eventually. I also plan on participating in NaNoWriMo again, possibly writing the sequal to ATZ.

As far as crafting goes, I have loved crafting since a very young age. My grandmother has a room dedicated to sewing, and a costume room. Ever since I was little, Halloween has been my favorite holiday because of her enthusiasm for it. I think that’s really where my crafty nature comes from. My grandmother inadvertently taught me to sew (I learned through watching her, but I never got to touch the sewing machine… I was too afraid of it). Then, when I was 12 I learned to knit. It frustrated me, so recently I taught myself to crochet, and then Pinterest has opened my eyes to so many more crafts.

The world of crafting appeals to me, and I think I’ll make a nice home for myself within its comfortable confines.

Hopefully, you will learn to love crafting through reading my blog, if you’re already addicted, welcome to the club. =)
